Painter – Alfortville
Born on March 22, 1946 in Paris
After attending the Sornas school to study Classical art (Drawing, plaster, nude, perspective, painting, etc…), Bernard Chatel is admitted to the National Superior school of Theater Arts and Techniques in Paris in the Decorator-Scenographer Department from which he graduated.
Parallel to his profession, he keeps expressing himself through painting and drawing.
His goal is to show a distorted look on the events touching human-beings through colored movements and gestures.
He switches the genuine and the visible with a pictorial writing which blurs the tracks and disorientates to that the the observer can act and look for his own path.
His work might seem abstract but he has no will to cut himself from the reality.
Bernard Chatel displayed his paintings in several places and art galleries: Salons des artistes Français (Sociétaire), Galerie Mouffetard - PARIS, Galerie Peugeot - PARIS, Galerie de VITRY, Galerie « le 148 » - ALFORTVILLE, Galerie « L’Article » - PARIS, Galerie « Art Présent » - PARIS, Espace Culturel , « La Pléiade » - COMMENTRY. He obtained many prices of which the first Ile de France Region prize and the first Seine Saint Denis region prize.
