Y.S. was born in Grete in 1951. He studied in the School of Fine Arts painting, engraving, icon painting, as well as the art of the book and typography.
From 1980, together with the poet Michalis Katsaros, Y.S. publishes a newspaper dedicated to poetry – (“Level”). From 1989, Y.S. publishes a magazine for literature and art (“New Level”), and from 2003 a collector’s magazine (“Art game”). As from 1996, Y.S. publishes collector’s books (“Hand moved” Editions). In 1997 Y.S. publishes a book in 35 copies and a format in folio: “John’s Revelation”, accompanied by seven engravings in colour.
Y.S. has organized several seminars of engraving and has collaborated with many publishing houses and literary magazines. He also teaches drawing and engraving at the AKTO School.
In 2002, Y.S. participated in the 1st International Conference of Typography and Visual Communication, at the Macedonia University in Salonika and spoke about (the) collector’s books.
In 2004, in the same University and for the Second Conference of the same faculty, he showed a film about classical printing.
Y.S. work is exhibited in museums, art galleries, the Ministry of Culture, as well as in important private collections, in Greece and abroad.
