Sandra Blumberg lives and works in Napa, California. She is perusing her BFA in painting and drawing at California College of the Arts in San Francisco; concurrently studying printmaking at Napa Valley College.
Inspiration comes from the fusion of disparate found objects and vernacular photographs prompting the construction of complex narratives. As relationships develop between figures tiny gestures reveal the story. Acid colors or hazy patterns obscure nostalgia and promote curiosity of situations often humorous or provocative.
Current work is influenced by the evolution of the art historical figure of San Sebastian, as his appropriation and changing symbolism is a reflection of the times.
