Jeff Scofield’s lens is one of perpetual imagination.
Through the transmittal of energy and synthesis of ideas, he creates art that expresses the joy of living.
Jeff works at large and small scales with a wide range of media; acrylics, metals, wood, sand, coffee, wires, grills, fabrics, glass and light.
Being both an Artist and Architect he has myriad translations, his fluency being to transform the paradigm regenerating with renewed stimulus.
Jeff is an American architect who grew up in Europe. Born in 1956, he studied art at the Beaux Arts in Paris, after studying architecture at Columbia University in New York. Jeff now resides in Dubai, where he is the Art Director at Gallery 76 and participates in various art events.
He experiments with abstract painting and sculpture, blending these different interests and influences together. He combines vivid colors and mixed media to create highly intuitive abstract compositions.
Jeff paints mostly in acrylics, mixing them with sand, chalk, coffee, and other media. He also works with materials recycled from construction sites, such as wires, metal grills, plywood and jute fabric. In addition to painting, Jeff makes abstract sculptures in clay, which he also mixes with sand, coffee, metal, wood and other media. Jeff also uses printing techniques blending these mixed media together on canvas, wood and paper, which he recycles from their original uses.
Jeff expresses these works in unusual formats, preferring to produce tall narrow paintings and totem-like sculptures. His work ranges from large wall-sized pieces down to small intimate prints.
