Born in Greenfield, MA on the fifth of May 1982, Ethan Aaron Rice has been indulging his creative and artistic tendencies since childhood, fostered from life in both rural western Massachusetts and the jungles of suburban New Jersey. What began as constant childhood doodles evolved into him learning more about the principles of art, which in turn helped Ethan begin developing his own artistic line.

Ethan graduated from Northfield Mount Hermon in 2001, while in attendance at NMH his studies in art led him to apply and then attend the University of Vermont. It was there that Ethan completed his B.A. in Studio Art with minors in both Art History and English in 2006. During his undergraduate years at UVM Ethan studied abroad in Cortona, Italy at the Lamar Dodd School of Art, University of Georgia where he was introduced to intaglio printmaking. He went abroad for a second time to Athens and Samos, Greece through Castleton College.

It was Ethan’s interests in printmaking that confirmed his desires to return to Italy and further his education in art. He concluded a professional printmaking degree at Il Bisonte in Florence, Italy. Where he graduated at the head of the class in December of 2007. Since graduating Ethan has shown his work throughout many national and international juried exhibitions, in locations such as Bulgaria, Canada, England, France, Hungry, Italy and Spain. . He received his first award with an honorable mention in a juried exhibition at New Hampshire Institute of Art’s Printmaking – Impressions Exhibition in Manchester, NH (April-2009). In January 2011 Ethan began teaching printmaking at the Irvine Fine Arts Center in Irvine, CA. Presently, Ethan lives in Santa Monica, CA and continues to show and create new works of art.
